Madonna and Guy: Was it adultery?

There is so much speculation in the media about the reason that Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s marriage cracked up. But all it is is speculation. Nobody ever really knows what happens between two people. The rumors this summer that Madonna had had a late night rendez-vous with A-Rod who subsequently and swiftly got divorced from his wife Cynthia, are just rumors.
However, if the Ritchies were in New York, they would definitely need a basis for the divorce. They would need to have “grounds” and those grounds would have to be proven. England is different and I am not sure what the rule is there, whether the whole system is “no fault” like it is in California. You can’t get a divorce in New York because you have “irreconcilable differences.” It is kind of archaic, if you really think about it. I mean, after all, if two people don’t want to be married to each other anymore, why does the court put them through what can sometimes be a “public circus,” just to get out of it? It is the airing of dirty laundry, which most times ends in the divorce anyway.
My feeling is that people should be able to get a divorce in New York without having to prove why they should be divorced. It’s nobody’s business and it shouldn’t be the court’s business why they no longer want to be married. I think the laws should be changed in this respect in New York because all proving grounds does, is create theatre. And that shouldn’t be. But it is. New York is not a “no fault” state. You must prove grounds to get a divorce. There are many different grounds such as ADULTERY, CRUEL TREATMENT, IMPRISONNMENT, ABANDONMENT, CONSTRUCTIVE ABANDONMENT, JUDGMENT OF SEPERATION AND SEPARATION AGREEMENT.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie might be lucky they are domiciled in England. Although, like I said, I don’t know whether they have to prove grounds there. If Guy does in fact allege adultery, and they have to prove grounds, and this gets nasty, then the Material Girl will have a whole lot of explaining to do.
