Divorce Movies that lend some perspective (not all are set in New York)

Divorce, whether in New York or in Italy, is tough. It is emotionally wrenching, physically draining, and often financially devastating. If there are chilldren involved, it adds to the angst exponentially. Some people decide to stay together for the kids’ sakes. Others decide to part, also for the kids’ sakes.
As a Divorce lawyer here in New York, I have certainly seen both populations. I have had my share of people who commence divorce proceedings then change their minds. They are the minority, to be sure. But it does happen. Either way, I am not fit to judge.
But here are a few movies about the subject of divorce that I thought I would post today. This may be scandalous but I have not seen any of these movies. I’m embarassed to say I haven’t. But I think all of these have gotten rave reviews.
1)Kramer vs. Kramer
2)Divorce Italian Style
3)Le Divorce
5. Jake’s Closet
Jake’s closet is supposed to be especially interesting and is told through the eyes of the child of divorce and the psychological impact on him. You can read more about it here
I also just read on the internet that there is a new divorce movie in production called Adult Children of Divorce. It is supposed to be a comedy.
I guess with time, even divorce can be funny.
