I think my spouse is seeing someone. Should I hire a private investigator?

If you have the money to spend, it might make sense to hire a private investigator to see what your spouse is up to. I had someone call in today seeking advice about that. She thought her husband was seeing someone else and she wasn’t sure if it was a man or woman, or a few people. But she said she had “physical” reason to believe that her husband wasn’t being faithful. She asked whether she should hire a private investigator. I told her what I’m telling you: if you have the money, why not? Make sure the person is a licensed investigator. New York requires a person who holds themself out as a “private investigator” to have a license which they must obtain from the Department of State after paying a fee.
You want to make sure the investigator has relevant experience, references and a good success record before hiring him or her. Now, I have no idea what these folks would charge. You have to google “private investigator” then call a few places and compare prices.
