Bristol Palin and Levi Johnson split: will there be a custody battle?

Teenage sweethearts Bristol Palin and Levi Johnson have split up according to published reports. The engagement is off. I guess you can say they have had a “pre-marital divorce.” The young couple were planning a summer wedding when the relationship imploded. Levi’s sister Mercedes apparently told a tabloid magazine that Bristol is making it difficult for Levi to see baby Tripp. Boy. I really hope a custody battle is not the next level. I am relieved they did not rush into marriage. I just think a surprise pregnancy is the wrong reason to get married–especially for such young kids who don’t even know who they are yet, never mind having to carry the burden of not only being parents but spouses too.
I just don’t want to see them degenerate into a custody battle, though. But can you imagine if they did? And the judge gave custody to Levi? And forced Bristol to pay Levi child support? That would be crazy. I wonder if Alaska follows the Tender Age Doctrine? If so, the baby stays with Bristol. If not, it would be really interesting to see what would happen if Levi challenged Bristol for custody.
