CHINA: Divorce rates continue to spike now up to 21%

chinaWhat is responsible for the rising divorce rates in China? Globalization, probably. Added to that, a change in the divorce laws that occurred circa 2003 is also believed to have added pluck to couples who are in less than satisfying relationships to simply deep six the marriage without batting an eyelash. The law reportedly makes it possible to obtain divorces in one day! In addition, according to the BBC, since China started its market reforms in the 1970’s, the number of divorce rates have tripled.
But could selfishness also be a part of the problem? Is the national policy towards curbing family sizes in china (families are limited to one child) breeding a nation of “selfish” Chinese? Says the BBC:
