Gerald Garson used to sit on the Supreme Court Matrimonial Bench in Kings County Brooklyn before he was convicted of taking bribes to fix divorce cases. He spent some time in a half-way house jail in Harlem but was released early after doing counseling for substance abuse. According to the New York Post, his early release really ticked off a bunch of folks who feel that he ruined their families while a judge on the bench. One litigant, Moskowitz even showed up at the jail with a sign and was quoted as saying:
“He’ll get what’s coming to him,” Moskowitz said. “It’s a sad day for a lot of litigants because he should have served the maximum for what he did. He betrayed his oath. He destroyed a lot of families. It’s another black eye for all of us.”
