CALIFORNIA: Televangelist Benny Hinn on: Can the bible help you avoid divorce?

It seems the Bible is not foul proof with zapping divorces even amongst its biggest, most well-regarded advocates. This week, televangelist Benny Hinn (I confess I’ve never seen his work) and his wife heads to divorce court. The wife filed divorce in Orange County California, and it seems it took Benny Hinn by surprise.
I was just reading that Benny’s wife Suzanne Hinn left him and is living in a wealthy enclave on the Southern Pacific Coast. She’s hired a big time lawyer, Sorrel Trope, reportedly. (Sorrell Trope seems to get all the work. What’s up with that?)
Obviously California is a community property state and the parties have been married for 30 years. You can pretty much guarantee there’s no prenup. Those weren’t that popular 30 years ago. There could be a post-nup. But more than likely not so she is coming out of this with 50% of everything he amassed, and according to reports, he amassed a lot by preaching that God wants his followers to be rich. People eat that stuff up. Says The Associated Press – Yahoo:

Hinn is one of the best known advocates of the prosperity gospel, which teaches that Christians who are right with God will be rewarded with wealth and health in this lifetime.
His TV broadcasts on the Trinity Broadcast Network, a Pentecostal broadcasting juggernaut, and other TV networks are seen by millions of people around the world nearly every day. He travels the globe in his ministry’s plane, named Dove One, holding events he calls “Miracle Crusades” that include spiritual healings.

Mr. Hinn is also reportedly being investigated by the Senate Banking committee. [GSMITHBOOK]
