The post-divorce booty call: good idea? Bad idea?

Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb were talking about booty calls today on Today so I threw a question at my retired dad who doesn’t hear that well,
“so, dad, what do you think about post-divorce booty calls?”
He goes to me, “duty call? What is a duty call?”
I went, “no, dad, I said booty call. With a B.”
He goes, “what is a booty call?”
I nearly died laughing. My dad doesn’t know what a booty call is! And he was serious. He’s that kind of a guy who doesn’t know slang.
Well, I’m not even sure I know what a booty call is. I know what I think it is, but I’ve been wrong before. It’s kind of like the time I was temping at this job in Midtown Manhattan and, of course, temps are degenerates and the conversations always wind up being about sex. And so this guy used the word “couchie” and once I had ascertained the meaning of the word (I had NEVER heard the expression in my life!) I was in love with the word. I thought it was such a great way to put it. So one day my friend Vanessa and I were having dinner and I was like, “omg I have a new word for vadge!” And she goes, “what is it?” And I went, “It’s couchie! This guy named Sean told it to me.” And she looked at me as if I had seven heads. She said to me, “Jeannie, that’s an old word. That’s been around for years.” And I was like “really?! I thought I was on the cutting end of a new trend! I’ve never heard it before!” and she was like “have you been living under a rock?!” And I was like, “no, but I don’t have cable. Is that why I don’t know these things?” ….we still laugh about that even now, years after the fact….
So, I can’t really judge my dad too much on this one, of not knowing what a booty call is, even though he has cable. He’s just the type of guy who wouldn’t know these things. Know what I mean?
But. So. Is the post-divorce booty call a good idea or a bad idea? Hme…Well, I think it is probably….I don’t know! Is it a good idea? What do you think? I think it depends. I think if both parties are on the same page and they both know it is a booty call, then I guess, hey, they were married before, it’s okay. But if one party is just playing games with the other, this is totally not okay. It depends. There are times when I think this would potentially be an explosive thing, and then there are times when it could be therapeutic. It depends.
As a general rule? I don’t like the concept of a booty call. The first person I heard use that word was Vivica A. Foxx on television and it sounded like some guy lead her on and I was just not okay with that. Booty calls connote that someone was lead on. I don’t like that.
