They were married on July 10, 2010. Former president Bill Clinton officiated the ceremony. Six years later, it was over. Huma Abedin issued a public statement as follows:
“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy,”
So much for her request for privacy and for this tone of conciliation. Huma Abedin and her soon to be ex husband Anthony Weiner are in the hot seat over the discovery of 650,000 emails on a private computer she shared with her husband, disgraced representative from the 9th Congressional District in New York, Anthony Weiner. Mr Weiner who had also launched an unsuccessful bid for the mayor of New York in 2013 has seen his career derailed by a series of incidences involving “sexting” – most recently with an underage girl in North Carolina.
As a result of his behavior and repeated relapses and offenses, Ms Abedin was forced to file for a separation from her husband during the summer, 2016. Since that time, an FBI investigation was launched against Mr Weiner. During that investigation a series of emails were discovered that seems to have links to presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Ms Abedin and Mr Weiner’s divorce, brought on by these allegations against her husband that he had solicited the underage girl referenced above, very well could turn contentious with this turn of events. These allegations are in addition to prior allegations against Mr Weiner for similar offenses, as stated previously. Indeed, he had been busted about 3 times and each time except for the last, his wife stood by him and dutifully defended him. Now, her loyalty to the man she married could potentially cause Huma’s boss, Hillary Clinton, a woman to whom Ms Abedin exhibits great loyalty, to lose a historic presidential election.
Imagine a presidential nominee being toppled because of emails shared on a computer between husband and wife.
It is ironic because usually in a divorce, the sexts, texts and emails are investigated to prove cheating and adultery. Now they are being used to topple a presidential candidacy.
The couple had been married about 5 years before Ms Abedin pulled the plug on the marriage in summer 2016. They have a young son together named Jordan and it is unclear who will get custody of this boy but it is not difficult to imagine it will be Ms Abedin unless she is indicted and successfully prosecuted for mishandling federally classified information. In which case, their young son could find himself, at least temporarily, without parents.
As for property settlement issues, no word has been issued on that front. But they are said to be worth, all together, in excess of….it looks like the number is about $2,000,000.00.
