There was a time when Brad Pitt was the best looking, sexiest guy in Hollywood – indeed, the sexiest man alive. Don’t tell that to anybody younger than 30. Brad has seen his looks diminish consistently over the last decade to the point that he has become almost unrecognizable.
Is it stress?
The actor and his long-time consort Angelina Jolie, whom he married just a couple of years ago after a decade together (perhaps in a last ditched effort to save the relationship) have been going through a protracted divorce where a major sticking point is custody of their six children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.
During their time together, Miss Jolie has always waxed poetic about how she and Brad wanted to be “co-parents together.” She even said, two year ago, that their marriage was about the eight of them wanting to “commit to each other as a family.” And she has been extremely deferential to Bradley’s parenting over the years calling him an “amazing dad and an amazing partner” in multiple televised interviews.
Something has abruptly changed. It is to the point that it appears that Miss Jolie does not want Brad anywhere near the children without third party therapists present -and he is not fighting this tooth and nail. So on a certain level, he seems to be acquiescing and maybe even agreeing that therapists should be present when he visits with his children. The only reason to explain his response to Miss Jolie, is to conclude that something serious did go down between Mr Pitt and one or more of his children. He seems more intent on quieting Angelina than fighting her for unreasonably keeping him away from his kids.
And he is very compliant, even voluntarily enduring drug and alcohol tests according to recent reports, as well as conceding Angelina’s request for sole custody in spite of the fact that the Department of Children’s Services in Los Angeles found no acts of abuse had been committed by the actor:
As the pair continue working out the details of their divorce, they’ve been relying on a voluntary custody agreement that states the kids — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox — will live with their mother and see their father only under the supervision of a counselor.
Brad, whom the Department of Child and Family Services determined committed no acts of abuse despite allegations of an incident with his son Maddox on a plane, has also been voluntarily taking drug and alcohol tests.
While Brad’s consented to drug testing and monitored visits, he’s also taken issue with Angelina’s approach to the custody situation. Earlier this month, he asked the court to have the divorce documents sealed and accused Angelina of being irresponsible by making the documents public.
In papers related to the request, Brad said Angelina has “no self-regulating mechanism,” adding that she has not kept in mind the “children’s best interest [while] attempting to clear the way to put in the public eye any allegations she can, without regard to the impact on the minor children.”
While Brad has been fighting to keep the details of their divorce and custody fight private, he still is not acting with the natural outrage, anger and indignation that would normally beset a man wrongly accused and wrongly kept from his children. This is very strange.
It could be that he is just afraid of Angelina but he does have a lot of financial resources to hire people to fight on his behalf for his right, at a minimum to co parent his children and to see them without third parties present.
Unless, as I said, there is more to this story than meets the eye.
In which case it might explain why Brad has so lost his looks. Something else is going on behind the scenes. And whatever it is, it is serious and major.
